What to pack in your hospital bag

If you’re anything like me, you’re freaking out about what to pack in the famous hospital bags. All your grab-and-go essentials for you and baby. The contents of the bag on repeat in your brain for the weeks to come wondering if you’ve forgotten something.

Let me make something perfectly clear.

YOU SHOULD OVER PACK! (Well, at least a little) You and your baby are the star of the show. You both should be comfortable, right? Especially mom. You’re giving birth, honey! It’s a big deal.

I have added some amazon links throughout the list of the products I used in my bag for you all to use as reference.

First things first, toiletries.

I’m an unplanned c-section mama. I know, sometimes that’s just how the cookie crumbles am I right? We can get into that later.

I did get up after my c-section and take a short shower. It was nice to NOT smell like I just had been cut open on a table hours prior. FOR MOM : I found that mini travel sizes were the best. You can keep these in your bag without having to store them in the shower for daily use.

Here’s what was in my toiletries bag:

1 – Shampoo and conditioner

2 – Deodorant

5 – Dry shampoo

6 – Hair ties (I know all of you have some spares laying around you can pack)

7- Shower shoes

Your hospital should provide sanitary times for you and baby including: diapers, wipes, mesh underwear, peri bottle, and pads.

Second, clothes and comfort items.

I packed several “outfits” because I wasn’t sure how I would be feeling. I literally stayed in a nursing bra, mesh underwear, and a pad the size of Texas majority of my stay. However, when visitors did come I put on a button up night gown or some VERY loose high waisted comfortable shorts.

Here are specifically my comfort items:

1- Two button up night gowns

2 – Two sets of comfortable shorts and matching shirts (wearing matching clothes makes you look like you have it all together. You look good, you feel good. In this case, you look good but all you care about is snuggling that sweet new baby. Close enough.)

3- Hospital slippers. Slippers specifically for the hospital. A cheap pair that you can throw in the washer when you get home to avoid bringing home those hospital floor germs.

4 – A PORTABLE FAN! Cannot stress this enough.

Now for baby, this is the fun part!

1 – Take home outfit

2 – Two sleeping outfits/Pajamas for baby that cover hands and feet

3 – Burp cloths

4 – Pacifiers

5 – Sign with his/her name on it for pictures

6 – A soft blanket for snuggles

Third, I like to call these the admin things. (administrative things) for having your life together. Because we’re parents now. And we need to do that.

These are self-explanatory. But really helpful reminders. So I’ll keep it short and sweet.

1 – Chargers for all devices. Extra long cords if you are able to get them.

2 – A file folder. You will receive documents for you and baby that are important and you will need to take to your pediatrician along with prints of your babies feet! You want a safe place for all this. Trust me.

3 – Back up portable fan. Seriously, I brought three.

4 – A grocery bag/garbage bag for dirty clothes

5 – A faja, or postpartum support band – these are NOT just for c-section mamas!

6 – Photo ID and insurance cards! They will ask you for these on arrival so make sure they are ready to go! I kepy my insurance card in the file folder mentioned above.

Again as I said in the beginning I will link the products I used in my hospital bag for you to browse and hopefully add to yours! Wishing all you moms safe deliveries and healthy babies. Much love!
